Fiberail Sdn Bhd (Fiberail), incorporated in 1992, is a joint-venture company between Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTM Berhad) and Petrofibre Network (M) Sdn Bhd (PFN), licensed under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 as a Network Service Provider (NSP) and Network Facilities Provider (NFP) primarily in the telecommunications industry.

A “carrier’s carrier”, Fiberail provides the backbone infrastructure and ancillary services to Telco providers. The company has also expanded its customer base to include managed network service providers and global operators.

Fiberail owns three fibre optic cable networks along the railway and gas pipeline corridor from Padang Besar in Perlis to Johor Bahru and branches out from Gemas to Tumpat and Rantau Panjang in Kelantan. The network passes through almost all major towns in Malaysia and is suitable for the conveyance of voice, data and video. Fiberail’s network coverage extends to the East Coast particularly to Pahang and Terengganu via the Petronas gas pipeline corridor.

Fiberail commissioned the Metro Ethernet services in the Klang Valley and Cyberjaya. With its converged network, Fiberail is able to provide resilient infrastructure enabling Fiberail to also provide the last mile connectivity thus playing an important part in the broadband network plan for the country.

With 20 operation centres nationwide including two centres at the Headquarters, the National Control Centre at KTM Railway Station Building and a 24-hour Helpdesk, Fiberail is able to cater to its customers’ needs effectively.

Fiberail was awarded ISO 9001 certification for company-wide operations in 2000. The scope of certification is planning, development, operation and maintenance, business management and support services of the fibre optic network for telecommunication purpose and business development for new products.

In 2008, Fiberail received the prestigious TM Group Company of the Year Award in recognition of its outstanding achievement throughout the year.
