Founded in 1974, Asta Chemicals is a Malaysian, privately owned chemical manufacturer of formaldehyde, adhesive resins, hardeners, and fillers. Since inception, the progressive growth of the company can be dully attributed to our dedication for quality and excellence which has allowed us to expand our operations and launch ourselves into becoming one of the leading manufacturing companies in our field, catering to a wide spectrum of industries such as the forest, automotive, abrasives, and textile to name a few.

Headquartered in Kuala Lumpur with manufacturing facilities in the north and east peninsulas of Malaysia, our facilities not only allow us to be innovative in our technology, but to also custom manufacture for multinationals.

Company Timeline

47 YEARS IN MALAYSIA

1973

Borden Chemicals Sdn. Bhd. 100% owned subsidiary of MNC, Borden Chemicals Inc. (USA)

1974

Established as a producer of formaldehyde based resins, known as Borden Chemicals.

1975

Factory in Prai commenced operation.

1992

Second Factory in Kuantan established.

2005

Borden becomes Hexion Chemicals Sdn. Bhd. 100% owned subsidiary of MNC, Hexion Inc. (USA)

2010

Hexion Malaysia became Momentive Specialty Chemicals Sdn. Bhd. 100% owned subsidiary of MNC, Momentive Inc. (USA)

2012

Momentive becomes Asta Chemicals Sdn. Bhd. through MBO.

2013

Launch of silver plant to improve production efficiency.

2014

Becomes first Chemical Manufacturing company in Malaysia to win a carbon award from the Ministry.

2018

Achieved production of 10k MT/month for the first time in company history. Commissioning of Methanol Storage Tanks.
