Asbestos is a carcinogenic material that is used for building’s insulation. The government of Malaysia has issued a message to avoid the use of such material, because of health concern. However, many buildings contain asbestos, sometimes without people being aware of it and is a direct threat to their health that should be address quickly.

Traditional methods consist in detecting which part of the building contain asbestos, then tightly seal the building before peeling it off, to treat it at a recycling facility. This is a heavy process during which the whole building and area has to be closed and sealed to avoid spreading asbestos particles, which are the carcinogenic species. Workers need to wear a full body protection with gas mask and goggles. As it has to be manually done, it takes a lot of time and is really exhausting for the workers. Finally, the asbestos might be trap in areas that are unreachable, which creates dilemma: how to peel it off vs leaving it there.
